The journal of political science "State and Law" was founded in 1997 by the V. M. Koretsky Institute of State and Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

Frequency: until 2019 – quarterly; since 2020 – twice a year.

The primary purpose of the journal is to publish the results of the latest scientific research in political science (until April 30, 2026, also in legal science).

The journal covers current issues in contemporary political science in sections on the theory and methodology of political science research, the history of political thought, international, comparative, and applied political science, political institutions and processes, and ethnopolitics.

The journal publishes reviews of monographs, academic collections, and other publications on political science topics, as well as materials covering events in the academic community in Ukraine and abroad.

The journal is intended for scholars, faculty members, graduate students, and undergraduates—anyone seeking to acquire theoretical and applied knowledge in political science.

Articles are published in Ukrainian and English.

The authors of the scholarly articles include renowned Ukrainian and foreign scholars, government and public figures, politicians, judges, law enforcement officials, young researchers, doctoral candidates, and graduate students from research institutions and higher education institutions.

The collection of scientific works was registered by the State Committee for Information Policy, Television, and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine in 2003, and re-registered with the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine in 2019. Certificate of Registration KVI No. 24274-14114 PR dated December 21, 2019.

According to Appendix 1 to Order No. 409 of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine dated March 17, 2020, "List of Printed Periodicals Included in the List of Scientific Professional Publications of Ukraine," the journal "State and Law" is included in Category "B" of Ukraine's scientific professional publications in the fields of law and political science – 052, 081.

The journal is indexed in the international scientometric database Index Copernicus International (Poland).
